Aila Peck moved to Chicago in 2011, after graduating from University of North Carolina School of the Arts with a B.F.A in Acting. In spite of a challenging introduction to winter weather, Chicago has welcomed her with open arms and invited her into a warm artistic home that she could not be more grateful for.
Born in Houston, TX, and stationed in Paris, Singapore, and Indonesia, Aila spent most of her childhood traveling. The many sights and sounds of the world enriched her imagination. Constantly adapting to new environments, people, and cultures embedded a deep love for adventure, exploration, and learning that constantly inspires her work in the arts, both performance and visual.
What was first a love of playing make-believe blossomed into a passion for crafting a role and collaborating with other artists to tell a story. Since moving to Chicago, Aila has been fortunate enough to with artists from Silk Road Rising, About Face Theatre, Promethean Ensemble Theatre, Chicago Children’s Theatre, and more. Most recently, she was seen as B in Aditi Kapil’s Brahman/i: a One-Hijra Stand Up Show at CompanyOne (Boston, MA). Aila can be found next, playing Dee in the World Premiere of Mat Smart’s The Royal Society of Antarctica at The Gift Theatre.
Outside of acting, Aila enjoys cooking, playing guitar, painting, exploring the city, and making people laugh—because sometimes laughter is the best medicine.
