Cassandra Bissell was bitten by the theatre bug when her mother enrolled her in an after-school drama class in the 3rd grade. What began as a thrilling addiction to the adrenaline of live performance, became a stabilizing force through multiple childhood moves. Despite these many moves, Chicago remained her first real home and upon high school graduation in Buffalo, NY, Cassandra returned to the Windy City and attended University of Chicago. She graduated with a degree in Gender Studies, and promptly launched into the always-intended pursuit of a professional theatre career.
In her first years out of college, Cassandra found a niche performing Shakespeare. Over the years, her resume has expanded to include more contemporary work and the occasional farce, although she will always have a soft spot for classical texts. The last few years have found Cassandra almost exclusively playing roles that require accents. Cassandra has called Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood home ever since college graduation.
She can often be found drinking tea and listening to NPR. She can play four different songs on the hammered dulcimer and enjoys painting and making beaded jewelry. She also likes objects at right angles and has a slight obsession with symmetry.
