Dave Honigman was one of the last Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey circus clowns in “Out of This World,” the closing tour. He said his goodbyes, packed his bags, and moved to the Windy City in May of 2017 where he joined Gray Talent Group, reconnecting with his foundations as a theatre and camera actor.
Dave’s work began at age eight through South Coast Repertory’s Youth Conservatory, and continued him up the California coast: he graduated from CSU Long Beach with a BA Degree in Theatre Performance which lead him to Los Angeles where he studied with Shakespeare Santa Monica, graduated iO West’s improv program, and completed the Upright Citizens Brigade’s level 401. He also worked in the new UCB Sunset for their first year of business.
In association with The Clown School of Los Angeles, Dave was introduced to clown theatre and became a company member of Four Clowns, LLC, where he performed in such shows as Pinocchio (South Coast Repertory), Four Clowns presents Hamlet (Shakespeare Center LA), Noah and Jonah (The Annenberg Beach House), The Halfwits’ Last Hurrah (Hollywood Fringe Festival, Best Physical Theatre 2015), Somewhere Like Earth (School Tour), and That Beautiful Laugh (HFF, Best Physical Theatre 2012). Dave was also a founding member of The Innocents, producing and performing a monthly clown theatre show at the Lyric Hyperion.
Dave Honigman will next be seen as the Referee in “The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity,” directed by Jeremy Aluma in conjunction with Red Theater and Strawdog Theatre Company, August and September 2017.
