Karen Rodriguez

Karen Rodriguez is a Chicago-based actor hailing from Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She was last seen as the outrageous Marina in The Doppelgänger (an international farce) at Steppenwolf Theatre Company. Most notably, she starred in the critically-acclaimed solo show The Way She Spoke by Isaac Gomez.

A charming and electric actor, her main focus and passion as an artist is new play development. This last season, she originated roles in three world premieres:

Breach at Victory Gardens, The Doppelgänger at Steppenwolf, and The Displaced at Haven Theater. For her work in Breach and The Doppelgänger, she was named “an essential comic Chicago actress” by the Chicago Sun-Times.

A proud graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, she holds a dual degree in Marketing and Theater.

Television credits include Chicago Justice. Karen is a recipient of the 2017 3Arts Make a Wave Award.

On her down time, Karen likes to salsa dance, watch stand-up comedy, and wear glitter. She also enjoys making silly voices. Her specialty? Anything involving My Little Pony or Gollum…from The Lord of the Rings.
