Marlene Slaughter

Marlene Slaughter is a national Gold Medalist with the NAACP Act-So competition for Dramatics. She has an extensive competitive speech background and is currently studying acting at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Marlene originates from Houston, Texas where she had her stage debut in Dreamgirls at the Houston Ensemble Theatre. Since then, Marlene has moved to Chicago to further pursue her acting career. During the summer of 2018, Marlene served as the Casting and Artistic Administration Intern for Timeline Theatre. She is an experienced dancer and serves as a movement and performance coach on campus. Marlene is currently organizing a reading for a self developed piece entitled The Quiet Ones. She is quite the Jack-of-all-trades going into her second year of hosting the campus-wide sesquicentennial in celebration of the University. Marlene loves to entertain and make people smile. Her favorite treats are pot stickers, hard caramel candies, and pickles! Not at all at once though. Her favorite thing to do (besides acting) is attend concerts or live music performances. Marlene is super excited to start the next phase of her career with Gray Talent Group and can't wait to see what's in store for her future.
