Melissa Du’ Prey

Melissa DuPrey, Ensemble Member of Teatro Luna ("TL"), is a Chicago native with roots in Humboldt Park. After earning BA's in Theatre Performance and Spanish Literature from the University of Houston, she returned to Chicago to join TL's touring ensemble, where she performed in Crossed (Rita), PUTAS! (Daniela), Not Your Generic Latina (multiple roles), and Generation Sex(self). Her one-woman show, SEXomedy, was developed during TL's series of One Night Stands that showcases women of color in the arts. It is now Chicago Reader Recommended and part of MPAACT's series of Extended Solo Jams.

Ms. DuPrey is also a comedian that has performed in various venues throughout Chicago, and is very proud to have had her start with Mikey O Productions. As a musician and active member of her community, she is dedicated to the preservation of Puerto Rican culture by way of the folkloric music, Bomba y Plena. She is blessed to have the continuous support of her family and friends, and hopes to continue creating and producing projects that fuse elements of theatrical story-telling with stand-up comedy.
