Pia’s TV credits include guest star roles on HBO’s Room 104, ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, and PBS’s Futurestates. She has also appeared on Grey’s Anatomy, Mercy, the HBO pilot The Wonderful Maladys and the Bollywood feature film 8x10 (Tasveer).
Pia Shah was born in the USA, raised in New Jersey and Mumbai, and New York. She started out in public television and documentary filmmaking but eventually found her true passion in acting and writing. She co-wrote and starred in Grass, a feature length improvised stoner comedy available on Amazon Prime and Itunes.
She is a proud member of AEA and has worked with numerous LA theater troupes including Circle X, Chalk Rep, Sacred Fools, EST LA and the Blank theater. Regional credits include the lead role, which she originated, in ORANGE at South Coast Repertory, for which she was nominated for a Stage Scene LA award for Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role Comedy/Larger Theater. She has also appeared in new works at Seattle Rep, Kansas City Rep, and Ojai Playwrights Conference.
She is a graduate of the School of Dramatic Arts at USC where she earned her MFA in Acting and The William Esper Studio where she was trained in Meisner technique with Suzanne Esper. She has also studied at Upright Citizens Brigade, American Conservatory Theater and with master teachers Wynn Handman and Diana Castle.
