Rika Nishikawa

Rika has made her professional stage debut as Princess Ying Yaowalak in the Marriott Theatre’s 2014 production of The King and I (Jeff Award nominated). Other local credits include her appearance in Griffin Theatre’s Balm in Gilead (Jeff Award nominated). She has also appeared in Ruth Page Civic Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker. Rika is proudly a member of Lookingglass Theatre’s Young Ensemble.  She loves to sing, act, and dance, and has sung solo on stage in a school talent show. She has been trained in voice, acting, ballet, tap, hip hop, tumbling, gymnastics, piano, and figure skating at various schools including Joffrey Ballet, Ruth Page Center for The Arts, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Lookingglass Theatre, and the Green Room Studio. She has strong passion and exceptionally skilled hands for arts and crafts, particularly origami, and her art pieces have been selected for prizes and exhibitions. Since she was born in the US and lived in Japan for almost three years, she is a native speaker of both English and Japanese, and she enjoys both the western and eastern cultures.
