Susan Shunk

Susan has made Chicago her home for the past five years and loves it! She attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for her BFA where she started her training in contemporary theatre. After graduating, Susan headed to Chicago where she fell in love with the theatre scene and community. Still, there was something she hungered for. She wanted to spend some time training in a conservatory program getting the best classical training she could get, so she headed out to Delaware to the Professional Theatre Training Program. Susan found a focus on language-based plays, an extraordinary group of coaches, and chances to work with amazing and unique guest artists such as Tadashi Suzuki, Adrian Hall, and the Roy Hart Theatre Group. MFA in hand, she headed back to Chicago where she has worked with Remy Bumppo Theatre, Shaw Chicago, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Apple Tree Theatre, Irish Repertory, First Folio Shakespeare, and Goodman Theatre. Regionally, Susan has worked with American Player’s Theatre for several seasons, Utah Shakespearean Festival, Montana Shakespeare in the Parks, and Colorado Shakespeare Festival. Susan also has done many audio recordings of books for McDougal Littell, and she is very proud to be a certified instructor of Joseph Pilates’ mat and machine work.
