Theo Germaine is a trans actor and performer from the BFA Acting Program at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign, and they grew up in a small farm town you've probably never heard of. During their college career they trained in trapeze, aerial silks, fire breathing, fire eating, stilt walking, burlesque and clown. They have also studied at Dell'Arte International in physical theatre, commedia, topeng keras, and mask carving.
They play male, female, and all-in-between characters, and hope to help increase trans and queer representation in the theatre and film industry. Chicago credits include the Stagehand-In-Charge at Steppenwolf's production of Straight White Men, where they collaborated with writer-director Young Jean Lee; Octavius Caesar/Cinna in Julius Caesar (Writers Theatre); Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream (First Folio Theatre); and Minnie Fay in The Matchmaker (Goodman Theatre). Web series credits include Sky (Afternoon Snatch) and Cleo (In Real Life), both released through OpenTV beta. They can also occasionally be seen performing at Salonathon.
When not onstage, Theo enjoys running outside in freezing or scalding weather, practicing the accordion and ukulele, cooking, and writing.
