Andrew Carter was born and raised in the Chicago area. He discovered theater while in high school and quickly developed his hobby into a full-on career choice. He attended the University of Illinios, Urbana-Champaign where he studied in the conservatory-style program and received a BFA in Acting in 2002. He returned to Chicago after college to pursue a professional career, where he has worked with many reputable companies including Goodman Theatre, TimeLine Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, and American Blues Theatre.

Most recently, he portrayed the pivotal role of Irwin in TimeLine Theatre’s long-running hit “The History Boys” (Equity Jeff Awards: Best Production, Best Ensemble.) He also appeared in critically acclaimed productions of “Hot L Baltimore” (directed by David Cromer); “This Happy Breed” (directed by Nick Bowling; Jeff Citations for Best Production, Best Ensemble); “Pravda” (directed by Louis Contey);  “Rose Rage” (Directed by Edward Hall); “Short Shakespeare: A Midsummer Night’s Dream” (directed by Gary Griffin); “A Dublin Bloom” (directed by Matt O’Brien); , and “It’s A Wonderful Life: Live at the Biograph!" (directed by Marty Higgenbotham.)   

 

This fall, look for him as David Frost going head-to-head with Richard Nixon in TimeLine Theatre’s Chicago premiere of “Frost/Nixon.” 

Andrew is a world traveler, having made stops in EnglandIreland, France, the Netherlands, Hungary, SpainCosta RicaHong Kong,New Zealand, and Australia. He also seeks thrills on road trips (Route 66 is a particular favorite), roller coasters, at rock concerts, and developing gourmet dishes at home.
