SAM LUCAS SMITH
Sam Lucas Smith is an Irish actor, writer, and director known for award-winning films such as BUY THE DIP, in which Sam stars alongside IFTA nominated comedian John Colleary; DEATH OF AN ANDROID, which Sam wrote and directed alongside ‘Always Sunny in Philadelphia’ director Heath Cullens; and the dark comedy OKAY GOOGLE, starring Rebecca Black as a vindictive AI assistant who breaks out of ‘the cloud.'
Sam played the part of Conor in season 15 of the hugely popular FX television comedy ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA and his previous leading credits include popular BBC dramas such as WATERLOO ROAD, the EMMY AWARD-WINNING VIKINGS, and acclaimed feature films such as KILLERS WITHIN, which had its debut at the BERLIN FILM FESTIVAL, and IMPERFECT SKY, for which Sam won BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR at the Sydney Independent Film Festival.
Sam graduated with a Master’s degree in Screenwriting from the National Film School at IADT and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Acting from the MMU School of Theatre before going on to train at the Bow Street Screen Acting Academy in Dublin. He has also trained in stand-up comedy and improvisation as part of the Comedy Institute and Upright Citizens Brigade theatre in Los Angeles.
Sam was selected as one of this year’s BAFTA LA NEWCOMERS, which recognizes up-and-coming international talent and was named as Film Daily’s FILMMAKER OF THE DAY following the success of his directorial debut with BUY THE DIP. His work has screened at major festivals and venues including the TCL Chinese Theatre, Hollywood Comedy Film Festival, Galway Film Fleadh, Festival de Cannes, and his most recent dark comedy OKAY GOOGLE was selected for the Oscar qualifying Edmonton Film Festival.
