Rika Nishikawa

Rika made her Broadway debut in 2017 and played Young Nala for one year in Disney's The Lion King.  Her professional stage career started with the role of Princess Ying Yaowalak in Marriott Theatre’s 2014 production of The King and I. Other local credits include her appearance in Lyric Opera’s The King and I, Theatre at the Center’s Annie Warbucks, and Griffin Theatre’s Balm in the Gilead. Rika is a former member of Lookingglass Theatre’s Young Ensemble and Second City’s Youth Ensemble. She has also appeared in the production of The Nutcracker at Ruth Page Civic Ballet and A&A Ballet. She loves to sing, act, and dance, and has been trained in voice, acting, ballet, tap, hip hop at various schools and workshops, such as Broadway Dance Center, Broadway Artists Alliance, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Ruth Page Center for The Arts, and A&A Ballet. She has strong passion for writing and exceptionally skilled hands for arts and crafts, including origami, and her essays and art pieces have won prizes. She is a native speaker of both English and Japanese, and she enjoys both the western and eastern cultures.
